Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 22, 2026
Last updated: July 22, 2026

CanadaDate respects your privacy and recognizes that people may share sensitive personal information when using an online dating and social-discovery platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how CanadaDate, operated by SingleBuck Technologies, collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you access or use the CanadaDate website, create an account, publish a profile or listing, communicate with other members, purchase a membership, use location or discovery features, contact support, or otherwise interact with CanadaDate.

By using CanadaDate, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where consent is required, CanadaDate will seek consent in a manner appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the purposes for which it will be used.

1. Who Is Responsible for Your Information

CanadaDate is operated by:

SingleBuck Technologies
Nova Scotia, Canada

SingleBuck Technologies is responsible for personal information under its control, including information processed by service providers on its behalf.

CanadaDate has designated a Privacy Officer to receive privacy questions, access requests, complaints, and requests concerning the handling of personal information.

Privacy Officer contact information appears near the end of this policy.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to personal information collected through:

  • The CanadaDate website.
  • CanadaDate member accounts and profiles.
  • Personal listings and discovery results.
  • Private messages and uploaded attachments.
  • Membership and payment transactions.
  • Profile-verification and safety features.
  • Map, location, and radius-search functions.
  • Viewer Insights, where available.
  • Support, reporting, moderation, and administrative tools.
  • Emails and other communications sent by CanadaDate.
  • Cookies, server logs, and similar technologies.

This policy does not govern independent third-party websites or services that may be linked from CanadaDate.

3. Information We Collect

The information CanadaDate collects depends on how you use the platform and which features you choose to enable.

Account information

When you create or manage an account, we may collect:

  • Your name or display name.
  • Username.
  • Email address.
  • Password in securely protected form.
  • Date of birth or confirmation that you are at least 18.
  • Account preferences.
  • Membership level and account status.
  • Registration date and recent account activity.
  • Security, authentication, and account-recovery information.

Profile and dating information

When you create a profile or personal listing, you may choose to provide:

  • Profile photographs and videos.
  • Age.
  • Gender identity.
  • Sexual orientation.
  • Relationship status.
  • Dating or relationship interests.
  • Preferred genders, ages, or types of connections.
  • General location.
  • Biography and personal description.
  • Interests, hobbies, occupation, lifestyle information, and other profile details.
  • Information about the type of person or relationship you are seeking.
  • Verification or activity indicators.

Some of this information may be highly sensitive. You are not required to provide optional information that you do not want associated with your CanadaDate account.

Photos, videos, and verification information

CanadaDate may collect photographs and short videos that you upload to:

  • Display on your profile or listings.
  • Send through private messages.
  • Complete a profile-verification process.
  • Submit to support or moderation.
  • Report another member or safety concern.

Verification images may be reviewed to determine whether a profile appears to represent a real person. Completing verification does not constitute a criminal-background check or guarantee a member’s identity, honesty, safety, or intentions.

Unless you choose to use a verification image as a public profile image, CanadaDate does not ordinarily display the verification submission itself to other members. A verification result or badge may be visible.

Messages and communications

When you communicate through CanadaDate, we may collect and store:

  • Private message content.
  • Message timestamps.
  • Sender and recipient information.
  • Listing or conversation identifiers.
  • Images or videos attached to messages.
  • Delivery, unread, blocking, and conversation-status information.
  • Communications with CanadaDate support.
  • Responses to safety, verification, or moderation inquiries.

Private messages are intended for the participating members. Authorized CanadaDate personnel may access messages where reasonably necessary to investigate a report, address fraud or abuse, provide requested technical support, enforce the Terms of Use, protect a person’s safety, or comply with a legal obligation.

Location information

CanadaDate may collect location information when you:

  • Enter a city, town, postal area, or other location.
  • Use a map or radius-search feature.
  • Choose “Use my location.”
  • Permit your browser or device to provide location information.
  • Create a listing containing location information.

Location information may include an entered location, approximate coordinates, search radius, or device-supplied location.

CanadaDate may deliberately reduce the precision of displayed locations to protect member privacy. Nevertheless, map results, distances, and profile details may allow others to infer your approximate location.

Do not publish your home address, exact workplace, or another sensitive location in your public profile.

Viewer Insights information

Where Viewer Insights is installed, enabled by the site owner, and properly licensed, CanadaDate may record information about profile or listing activity, including:

  • The listing or profile viewed.
  • The account that owns the listing.
  • The date and time of a view.
  • Whether a viewer was logged in.
  • Information used to identify duplicate or repeated views.
  • Aggregate and unique-view totals.
  • Listing-performance information.
  • A viewer’s identity when the viewer has enabled Reveal Mode.
  • Viewer-management preferences, such as hidden viewers.
  • Reveal Mode and privacy settings.

When Reveal Mode is disabled, your visits will generally appear anonymously to other Viewer Insights users. When Reveal Mode is enabled, your identity may be shown to eligible members whose listings you view.

Guest visits and other privacy-restricted activity may remain anonymous.

Viewer Insights is intended to provide general activity information. Results may be incomplete, delayed, filtered, or affected by duplicate-view controls, browser settings, blocking, account status, or technical conditions.

Usage, device, and technical information

CanadaDate may automatically collect:

  • Internet Protocol address.
  • Browser type.
  • Device type.
  • Operating system.
  • Referring and exit pages.
  • Pages and features accessed.
  • Dates and times of access.
  • Login and session information.
  • Error and diagnostic information.
  • Security events.
  • Cookie and preference identifiers.
  • General interaction and performance information.

We use this information to operate the platform, maintain sessions, prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, improve performance, and protect CanadaDate and its members.

Reports, blocks, and safety information

When you report or block another member, CanadaDate may collect:

  • The identity of the reporting and reported accounts.
  • The reason for the report.
  • Written explanations.
  • Screenshots or supporting evidence.
  • Relevant profile, listing, or message content.
  • Dates, times, and administrative notes.
  • Moderation decisions and enforcement history.
  • Information used to prevent attempts to evade restrictions.

We generally do not disclose the identity of a reporting member to the reported member unless disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety concern.

Payment and transaction information

When you purchase a membership or premium feature, CanadaDate may collect:

  • Your name and billing contact information.
  • Product or membership purchased.
  • Order number.
  • Purchase amount.
  • Currency and applicable taxes.
  • Payment status.
  • Subscription and renewal information.
  • Refund, cancellation, or dispute information.
  • Limited information supplied by the payment processor.

Payment-card information may be collected directly by an independent payment processor. Depending on the payment method used, CanadaDate may not receive or store your complete card number or security code.

The payment processor’s privacy policy and terms may also apply to the payment transaction.

Information supplied by other people

CanadaDate may receive information about you when another person:

  • Sends you a message.
  • Reports your profile or conduct.
  • Blocks your account.
  • Includes you in content submitted to CanadaDate.
  • Contacts support about an interaction involving you.
  • Provides evidence relevant to a safety or fraud investigation.

We will use this information only for purposes reasonably related to operating, securing, and enforcing the CanadaDate service.

4. How We Use Personal Information

CanadaDate may use personal information to:

  • Create, maintain, and authenticate accounts.
  • Confirm that members meet age and eligibility requirements.
  • Display profiles and listings.
  • Provide search, browsing, map, and discovery features.

  • Provide account, technical, and customer support.
  • Verify profiles and display verification indicators.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, impersonation, harassment, and abuse.
  • Investigate reports and enforce the Terms of Use.
  • Protect the safety and security of members, staff, and the platform.
  • Maintain blocks, restrictions, and enforcement records.
  • Send account, transaction, security, and service communications.
  • Send promotional communications where permitted and consented to.
  • Measure platform performance and understand feature usage.
  • Diagnose errors and improve CanadaDate.
  • Comply with accounting, tax, legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • Complete a business transaction such as a sale, merger, financing, or reorganization, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • Carry out another purpose explained to you at or before the time information is collected.

CanadaDate will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without obtaining additional consent unless the use is otherwise permitted or required by law.

5. Consent and Your Choices

CanadaDate seeks consent through account registration, feature controls, checkout information, profile settings, cookie choices, and other notices presented when information is collected.

Some information is necessary to provide the service. For example, CanadaDate requires account and contact information to create and secure an account.

Other information is optional. You may decide whether to:

  • Add optional profile details.
  • Upload additional photographs or videos.
  • Permit device-location access.
  • Enable Reveal Mode.
  • Complete profile verification.
  • Receive promotional communications.
  • Purchase premium services.
  • Make particular information visible through your profile.

You may withdraw consent to certain uses by changing your settings, removing content, disabling a feature, cancelling a subscription, or contacting the Privacy Officer.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that already lawfully occurred. It may also prevent CanadaDate from continuing to provide a feature or the entire service when the information is necessary for that feature.

6. Information Visible to Other People

CanadaDate is designed to help people discover and communicate with one another. Information you place in a profile or listing may therefore be visible to other members.

Depending on CanadaDate’s configuration and your account settings, some profile or listing information may also be visible to logged-out visitors.

Information that may be visible includes:

  • Display name.
  • Profile image.
  • General location.
  • Age.
  • Profile biography.
  • Dating preferences.
  • Interests.
  • Listing content.
  • Online, activity, verification, or support indicators.
  • Publicly selected profile details.

CanadaDate may obscure profile photographs or limit profile information for logged-out visitors.

You should not include the following in a public profile:

  • Home address.
  • Personal telephone number.
  • Financial or banking information.
  • Passwords or security codes.
  • Government identification numbers.
  • Confidential workplace details.
  • Information that could place you or another person at risk.

Other members may photograph, copy, save, or share information that you make visible to them. CanadaDate cannot control information after another person has copied it outside the service.

7. When We Share Personal Information

CanadaDate may disclose personal information in the following circumstances.

With other members and visitors

We share information according to the profile, listing, messaging, discovery, verification, and Viewer Insights features you use.

For example:

  • Profile information may be displayed to members.
  • Messages are shared with their intended recipient.
  • Reveal Mode may identify you to another eligible Viewer Insights member.

  • Comply with a court order, warrant, subpoena, or other lawful demand.

  • Establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
  • Cooperate with law-enforcement or regulatory authorities where permitted or required by law.

In a business transaction

Information may be disclosed as part of a proposed or completed merger, financing, sale, restructuring, acquisition, or transfer of CanadaDate or SingleBuck Technologies.

Where appropriate, recipients will be required to protect the information and use it only for purposes connected to the transaction or continued operation of the service.

With your consent

We may disclose information for another purpose when you direct us to do so or provide valid consent.

8. Selling Personal Information and Advertising

CanadaDate does not currently sell personal information to third parties for money.

CanadaDate may display advertisements or sponsored placements. Unless otherwise disclosed, advertisers do not receive your private messages, verification submissions, password, or complete personal profile simply because an advertisement is displayed.

If CanadaDate introduces advertising practices that involve tracking members across unrelated websites or sharing personal information for targeted advertising, we will provide appropriate notice and choices before implementing those practices.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

CanadaDate may use cookies, local storage, session identifiers, and similar technologies to:

  • Keep members signed in.
  • Remember settings and preferences.
  • Maintain security.
  • Prevent fraud and automated abuse.
  • Operate shopping-cart and payment functions.
  • Remember consent choices.
  • Measure performance.
  • Diagnose technical problems.
  • Understand how features are used.

Some cookies are necessary for account, security, payment, or core website functionality.

You may be able to block or delete cookies through your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent login, checkout, messaging, or other features from working properly.

10. Email and Other Communications

CanadaDate may send service-related communications, including:

  • Registration and account confirmations.
  • Password-reset messages.
  • Login or security alerts.
  • Message or activity notifications.
  • Purchase receipts.

  • Changes to policies or services.

CanadaDate may also send promotional communications where permitted and where appropriate consent has been obtained.

You may unsubscribe from promotional messages using the unsubscribe method provided or by adjusting available email preferences.

You may continue to receive essential account, safety, transaction, or legal notices even after opting out of marketing.

11. International and Cross-Border Processing

CanadaDate is operated from Nova Scotia, Canada. Some service providers may process or store personal information in another province, territory, or country.

When information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, or government authorities under those laws.

CanadaDate remains responsible for personal information transferred to service providers for processing and uses contractual or other safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the information. Canadian privacy guidance specifically expects organizations to remain accountable for outsourced processing and to be transparent when information may be processed in another jurisdiction.

You may contact the Privacy Officer for more information about service-provider processing outside Canada.

12. Retention of Personal Information

CanadaDate retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to:

  • Provide an active account.
  • Maintain profiles, listings, and messages.
  • Complete transactions.
  • Resolve support requests.
  • Investigate reports or safety incidents.
  • Prevent fraud and repeated policy violations.
  • Maintain business, tax, and accounting records.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Resolve disputes.
  • Enforce agreements.

Retention periods depend on the type of information, its sensitivity, why it was collected, whether an account remains active, and legal or operational requirements.

When an account is deleted:

  • The public profile and listings will generally be removed from ordinary display.
  • Messages already delivered may remain available to their recipients.
  • Some information may remain temporarily in backups.
  • Transaction records may be retained for financial and legal purposes.
  • Reports, enforcement records, and limited identifiers may be retained where necessary to prevent abuse or defend legal claims.
  • Information may be retained when CanadaDate is legally required to preserve it.

When information is no longer required, CanadaDate will securely delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it.

13. Account Deletion

Where available, you may request account deletion through your CanadaDate account or by contacting support.

Before deleting an account, you should separately cancel any active recurring subscription. Deleting an account does not necessarily cancel a payment agreement maintained by a payment processor.

Account deletion may not remove:

  • Information another member has independently copied or saved.
  • Messages retained in another member’s inbox.
  • Financial transaction records.
  • Information required for fraud prevention, safety, disputes, or legal compliance.
  • Temporary backup copies.

CanadaDate may verify your identity before completing a deletion request.

14. Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You may access and update much of your information through your CanadaDate account.

You may also submit a written request asking CanadaDate to:

  • Confirm whether it holds personal information about you.
  • Explain how that information has been used.
  • Identify organizations to which it has been disclosed, where reasonably available.
  • Provide access to your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

CanadaDate may request information necessary to verify your identity before responding.

Access may be limited where permitted or required by law, including where disclosure would reveal another person’s personal information, interfere with an investigation, disclose legally privileged information, or create a serious safety risk.

CanadaDate will generally respond to a written access request within 30 days, subject to legally permitted extensions.

15. Security Safeguards

CanadaDate uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, alteration, or destruction.

Safeguards may include:

  • Account authentication.
  • Password protection.
  • Encrypted website connections.
  • Access restrictions.
  • Administrative security controls.
  • Software updates.
  • Logging and security monitoring.
  • Backups.
  • Anti-abuse and fraud controls.
  • Limited access to sensitive administrative tools.
  • Confidentiality obligations for personnel and service providers.

Security measures are selected according to the sensitivity and amount of information involved. PIPEDA requires safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of personal information.

No website, database, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your password and should notify CanadaDate immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

16. Privacy and Security Breaches

CanadaDate investigates suspected losses of, or unauthorized access to, personal information.

Where required by applicable law, CanadaDate will notify affected individuals and report a breach to the appropriate privacy regulator when the breach creates a real risk of significant harm. CanadaDate will also maintain records of security breaches as required.

A notification may include information about:

  • What happened.
  • The information involved.
  • Potential risks.
  • Steps CanadaDate has taken.
  • Steps affected individuals may take.
  • How to contact CanadaDate.

17. Children and Minors

CanadaDate is intended only for adults who are at least 18 years old.

People under 18 may not create accounts or use CanadaDate. CanadaDate does not knowingly seek to collect personal information from minors.

If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 18, we may suspend the account, remove the associated profile, and delete or retain information as reasonably necessary for safety, investigation, and legal compliance.

A person who believes that a minor is using CanadaDate should report the account immediately.

18. Automated Tools and Moderation

CanadaDate may use automated tools to assist with:

  • Spam detection.
  • Fraud prevention.
  • Security monitoring.
  • Duplicate-view filtering.
  • Content screening.
  • Account-risk indicators.
  • Enforcement against attempts to evade restrictions.

Automated indicators may be reviewed by an authorized person where appropriate.

CanadaDate does not guarantee that automated systems will detect every harmful account or item of content. Members may contact support when they believe an automated restriction or decision was made incorrectly.

19. Third-Party Links and Services

CanadaDate may contain links to external websites or use independent services such as payment and mapping providers.

CanadaDate is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content, or conduct of independent third parties.

You should review the privacy policy of a third-party service before submitting information to it.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

CanadaDate may update this policy to reflect changes to:

  • Platform features.
  • Privacy practices.
  • Service providers.
  • Security measures.
  • Business operations.
  • Legal or regulatory requirements.

The revised policy will display a new effective or last-updated date.

Where a change materially affects how sensitive personal information is collected, used, or disclosed, CanadaDate may provide additional notice and seek consent where required.

21. Questions, Requests, and Complaints
